The Premise

Querying, made more efficient.

Traditional publishing is navigable when you have the right information at the right time. Galley brings together verified agents, live market intelligence, trend tracking, and comp research, all organized around your manuscript.

What's Inside

Four tools, built on verified data

Each organized around your manuscript, each connected to the others.

01 / Agents

A directory built on rigorous standards

Every agent in Galley's directory is verified against primary agency sources and confirmed to be actively working in the industry. By default, Galley shows only agents currently open to queries, updating the moment a status changes. Most agents in the directory are members of the Association of Authors' Representatives (AAR), an industry body that holds its members to a canon of ethics governing the author-agent relationship. You can filter by AAR membership, but the directory's inclusion standards go beyond any single credential: agents must represent active deals, maintain current submission guidelines, and be reachable through documented channels.

02 / Market

Speak the language of agents and publishers

The market view tracks live deal volume, debut share, and category movement across the publishing industry. When you can see which genres are gaining momentum and where publisher interest is concentrated, you can shape your query to match what agents are actively looking to acquire. Writers with access to this data can position their manuscripts in context, demonstrating market awareness that distinguishes their submissions.

03 / Trends

Position your manuscript where the industry is heading

Trends surfaces what editors are buying, what categories are gaining or losing momentum, and where agent interest is shifting. Each trend is tracked against real deals and agent activity with evidence and timestamps. When you understand the direction the market is moving, you can adjust your positioning, your comps, and your query language to align with what's current, not what was current a year ago.

04 / Comps

Test your comps before an agent does

Enter any title and Galley evaluates whether it's working as a comp in the current market. See if your comps are a strong match for your project, check for overuse and recency, and receive recommendations for additional titles that strengthen your positioning. A well-chosen comp signals market awareness. A weak one signals the opposite.

Why Galley

The place to start before you query anywhere

Galley is designed to make the entire querying process more efficient and effective. Start here to understand the market, refine your comps, sharpen your query, and build a list of verified agents who are actively open to submissions. By the time you're ready to submit, you'll have done the work that most writers skip: researching the landscape, tailoring your approach, and querying with a plan. Galley handles the preparation so that when you do submit, every query is informed, intentional, and directed at the right person.
